  11. (For those who have not followed me before in my original problem - IT was 
  12. easy, any VoiceOnNet program (Iphone, WebTalk, CuSeeme etc) would ALWAYS end 
  13. up killing the modem - I would or have the connection dropperd (without 
  14. Windows 95 noticing) or more recently had the connection still alive - but the 
  15. PPP connection was dead. Windows 95 was not aware - and clicking DISCONNECT 
  16. would cause the modem to hangup , but win95 would NOT acknowledge the fact 
  17. that it has - It has now been solved by incredibly changing the modem to COM1 
  18. , which is NOT a 16550A - the mouse is now in Com2, where a 16550 is, but now 
  19. the VON products hang up the MOUSE!)

  25. For those who remember my desperate call for HELP with VON (voice) products 
  26. causing the modem /ppp / win95 to drop my connection... IT WAS SOLVED..

  28.         BUT I need EXPLANATION here - MUCHO explanation.

  30. I Switched the modem from Com2 (16550A) to Com1 (a classic non-fifoed UART) - 
  31. and guess what - VON PRODUCTS NOW WORK!!!!!

  35. HOWEVER - what I MORE incredible..

  37.         now the MOUSE HANGS UP when I use VON products!!!!!

  39. In this exact second the mouse is there - hanged... 
  40.         What can this mean? The 1st time it hanged - I went to the settings 
  41. for Com2 , and disable the FIFOs. now with fifos disable , the mouse CRASHED 
  42. anyway!
  43.         Com2 = IRQ 3 right? Nothing is using that..
  44. I am using a logitech mouse, with drivers Version 7.00 or whatever the version 
  45. is...

  47.         I am starting to direct my assumptions on TWO things: The MOUSE / 
  48. Driver and the COM Port.
  49.         I have always had a problem with mouse and modem - only when I use 
  50. LOGITECHS updated drivers..
  51.         When I upgraded to Version 6.6 of the drivers, the modem would not 
  52. respond.
  53.         Now with 7.x.. the VON product problem - and now the Mouse hanging!

  55. Is it the Com? Or could it be Win95 not handling it very well?
  56.         In Dos, I have never had a download/upload , at full speed (3400 cps) 
  57. fail... though I am talking or in DOS, or in a FULL SCREEN DOS WINDOW without 
  58. multitasking.

  60.         Would it be wise for me to buy a serial card? I have the serials AND 
  61. the parallel ports ALL SEPARATE. I have one com card, with one 16550 and one 
  62. 16450/8250. - then the Parallel on its own miserable slot. (Because I use the 
  63. promise dc4030Vl2 that's why)

  65.         If you can help me out on this = PLEASE do.

  68. Update: I now removed all 7.0 drivers for the mouse, Win95 does not even list 
  69. a mouse - but the mouse is working - I still need to test it...
  70.         I have been suggested that the Com2 might be physically damaged or 
  71. something -I would like to add for those who did not follow my thread before - 
  72. that under DOS , uploads / download could take place at 3400CPS with no 
  73. hangups or anything.. but that's DOS not Win95..

  75.         Again - I would also accept any references to a Serial Card I could 
  76. purchase - even I/O where I would disable the IDE - as long as it has 
  77. 16550AFN's...
